Friday Family Film Night: TOP GUN: MAVERICK review

In which the Mister joins me in reviewing TOP GUN: MAVERICK (2022), currently playing on MGM+, Paramount+ and still in theaters. The long awaited sequel to 1986’s TOP GUN, this film is written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie; from a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks and based on characters created by Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film follows Maverick (Tom Cruise) 30 years after the first film’s story wrapped and he is still causing mayhem and pushing the envelope in the Navy as a pilot. He’s brought back in to teach a new crop of fighter pilots, including Goose’s now adult son, Rooster (Miles Teller). Maverick is tasked with the mission of getting these Top Gun graduates ready for a mission that could potentially have a high collateral cost. The film has a run time of 2 h and 1 m and is rated PG-13. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
