In which the Mister and I check out TALK TO ME (2023), which is still playing in select theaters but also to buy/rent on Prime Video. From directors Danny and Michael Philippou, from a script by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, the film is based on a concept by Daley Pearson. The film follows a group of teens who come upon a hand that’s being used by other young people on social media, to conjure and communicate with spirits. It provides these teens with an escape from boredom and seems to offer a “high” until events of an evening escalate when Mia (Sophie Wilde), who’s lost her mother is convinced that she is communicating with her mother through this game. What was first a cute party game soon devolves into something more sinister and Mia finds herself more and more entrenched in a situation that looks to be almost impossible to extricate herself from. The film has a run time of 1 h and 35 m is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
