Friday Family Film Night: STEEL MAGNOLIAS review

In which the Mister joins me in reviewing STEEL MAGNOLIAS (1989), from writer/playwright Robert Harling and directed by Herbert Ross. The film follows the story of a group of Southern women friends as they navigate their lives and relationships. The star studded cast includes Sally Field (M’Lynn), Dolly Parton (Truvy), Shirley MacLaine (Ouiser), Olympia Dukakis (Clairee), Daryl Hannah (Annelle) and Julia Roberts (Shelby). The actresses all shine as the script unfolds and we’re swept up in the lives, heartache and drama of these fierce women friends. The film has a run time of 1 h 57 m and is rated PG all though there is a brief few minutes of disrobed athletes in a locker room and mild saucy language. The film is currently available on the STARZ app but also for rent on many other platforms. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
