In which the Mister joins me in reviewing SAINT MAUD (2019), currently available on Prime. As we close out Women’s History Month, we wanted to highlight women directors and this film is written and directed by Rose Glass. The story follows Maud (Morfydd Clark), a young nurse who’s gone through trauma and has now delved deep into religious fervor. She works as a hospice nurse and is sent to take care of Amanda (Jennifer Ehle) who is receiving end of life care. The film does a great job of building tension and atmosphere and a solid script and great performances help tell the story of a woman who may or may not be in communication with God. The film has a run time of 1 h and 24 m and is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
