In which the Mister joins me in reviewing POLITE SOCIETY (2023), currently available for streaming on Peacock and to buy/rent on Prime Video. In this film, written and directed by Nida Manzoor, we follow Ria Khan (Priya Kansara), a young Pakistani-British woman who dreams of fulfilling her destiny and becoming a stunt woman, like her idol, Eunicec Huthart (who does a brief cameo as herself at the end via a phone call). In this action-comedy, we find that Ria springs into action to save her sister, Lena (Ritu Arya), from her upcoming marriage to Salim Shah (Akshay Khanna) whom she feels is all wrong for her sister. As the story progresses Ria’s assumption turns correct and she enlists her dearest friends and an unlikely ally to help save the day. Shout out to Zach from the film discussion group for the nomination. The film has a run time of 1 h and 44 m and is rated PG-13. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
