In which the Mister joins me in reviewing LANGUAGE LESSONS (2021), currently streaming on HBO Max. The film, written by Natalie Morales and Mark Duplass,isdirected by Natalie Morales who plays Cariño, a woman who has been paid to teach Adam (Mark Duplass) conversational Spanish for 100 lessons. In that time, Adam suffers a devastating personal loss and Cariño becomes a lifeline. In appreciation and gratitude, Adam tries to find out more about his teacher but in the process ruffles herfeathers. After many interactions it’svery clear that whethershe wants it or not, they are tied together in a friendship. The film is 1 h and 31 m and is unrated but probably PG-13 for some adultthemes. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
