Friday Family Film Night: GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER review

In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER (1967), currently available for streaming/rent/buy on Amazon Prime. Directed by Stanley Kramer, with an Academy award winning script by William Rose, the story follows Joanna “Joey” Drayton who returns from a Hawaiian vacation with a surprise for her parents Matt and Chris (fantastically played by Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy) – a fiancé who is a prominent doctor who needs to fly out that same evening for important work with the World Health Organization. Joey thinks it’s an opportune time for the families to meet and invites his parents to her home to meet and have dinner. The film is not rated but is steeped with conversation on interracial relations and marriage. The film has a run time of 1 h 48 m. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
