Friday Family Film Night: ANATOMY OF A FALL review

In which the Mister and I check out ANATOMY OF A FALL (2023), which is still in theaters, coming soon to streaming and to buy/rent on Prime Video.  From director Justine Triet and a script by Justine Triet and Arthur Harari, the film follows Sandra (Sandra Hüller) who at the start of the film is being interviewed by a student but then has to reschedule because of her husband.  Shortly after, her partially blind son, Daniel (an outstanding performance by young actor, Milo Machado-Graner), comes home and finds his father dead in front of their home.  After an investigation, Sandra soon finds herself facing homicide charges.  From here the film turns into a legal drama as witnesses and experts all weigh in on what happened.  Daniel insists on testifying but finds himself conflicted and confides in the court appointed monitor, Marge, who gives him some good advice.  This is a five time Oscar nominated film for Best Original Screenplay (Justine Triet and Arthur Harari), Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Sandra Hüller), Best Director (Justine Triet), Best Achievement in Film Editing (Laurent Sénéchal) and Best Picture of the Year nominee at the upcoming Academy Awards.  This film clocks in at 2 h 31 m and is rated  R.  Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.
