TGIF!
We’ve gotten through the first week back to school and back to work after the holidays. Plus as a country we’ve gone through some things….I am looking forward to the weekend to rest and regroup. A strange way of unwinding has been to clean and organize the house. So this weekend I’ve tasked myself with working in the basement and getting as much as possible done. To that end and to motivate myself, I’ve also arranged a Salvation Army pick up. I’ve held on to old kids clothing for far too long and other assorted things and giving away to less fortunate people always makes me feel light, the space cleaner and adds confirmation to sending good out into the world – a win-win for everyone.
With everything seeming to be “burning” all around us, any good is cause for thanks. No organization is perfect but for many years, SA has provided jobs and an effective way to reduce waste to landfills and recycle goods that still have a shelf life to less fortunate people. I don’t drive or have a car so having the pick up really helps me out. In the past and when I lived in Brooklyn, I would donate to a local church but since we’ve moved to NJ, I’ve exclusively used the SA for donations. I appreciate and am grateful for all the SA workers who’ve helped us out in the past and in the future and I hope my small donations can go out and help others in need.
