Today I am grateful for love and new beginnings. Over the holidays and new year, 2 good friends from work got engaged. I am so incredibly thrilled for them and it has put me in a very nostalgic mood. I think back to my own engagement – how I was proposed to and how happy I was. Its been an incredible journey and at times I am humbled at having the undying love of such a good man. He’s a better husband and father than anything I ever dreamed and sometimes I can’t believe my luck. That’s not to say that there isn’t work involved. Everyday there is work that goes into a marriage – compromise, sacrifice, understanding, patience, apology and forgiveness to name a few. I think the secret of our success has been that we were good friends with a lot in common who fell in love. I was introduced by my co-worker at the time (she is married to his best friend) and since we started dating, I’ve not looked back. We’ve had our tough spots and conflicts at times but the love between us grows daily. We appreciate, cherish and respect each other and I honestly cannot imagine this journey with anyone else.
