I decided that I would talk about a movie a day for the month of July and that I would only look at TUBI for this. Today I am grateful for the fact that James Baldwin ever existed and to Raoul Peck’s heartbreakingly beautiful I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO, that uses a lot of Baldwin’s words (read by Samuel Jackson) and is intercut with a nice amount of Baldwin in pictures and footage of him in interviews. The filmmaker also interwove a lot of footage from the present day that backs up much of what Baldwin says and proves how we’ve not really moved forward from Baldwin’s times. You can check out the film HERE and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
