Day 147 of 365 Days of Gratitude

It’s been a long week but we are closer to the 3 day weekend and I am grateful. Today I was especially appreciative for the end of the work day. There’s definitely a relief to finish that part of the day and then devote myself to my family or just to indulge in some down time.

Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of movies on Tubi – a streaming service with limited commercials with a decent library. Today I decided to revisit 1961’s THE CHILDREN’S HOUR from a play by Lillian Hellman and directed by William Wyler, the film follows the story of 2 young women (Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine) who head up a school for young girls and the trouble that ensues when a young troublesome girl creates a scandalous lie that creates havoc and ruins everyone in its path. A few years ago I saw it with my girls and they were enthralled by the storytelling and performances, especially from Karen Balkin who puts in an outstandingly chilling performance as Mary, the very definition of a bad seed. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
