A shout out to VEG

Sometimes people go above and beyond and in the process, show just how exemplary people can be. We’re in the middle of a huge undertaking and getting Spike’s ashes proved to be next to impossible but a staff member, Crystal, from Veterinary Emergency Group in Clifton, took it upon herself to reunite us with our little pal. She took time out of her day to come and deliver Spike back home to us. I cannot even begin to tell you how much this has meant to me. The fact that a complete stranger understood my pain and heartache and decided to take it upon herself to lend us a helping hand. She didn’t have to but I feel indebted to her and will always smile and remember her fondly for this selfless , compassionate act. I had worked later and when I arrived home, Spike was home. I cannot even describe sincere gratitude to Crystal for her act of kindness.

Much like other secondary medical services, Veterinary Emergency Group was born to service after hours emergency care with a specialized focus on the client/pet experience. With Spike we were given the time and space to grieve and say our good byes but I always felt like someone was always nearby to help out, answer questions and steer us to the next thing as our brains were truly fried from the experience.

Our pets truly do become part of the family and good byes are so difficult. Its good to have a partner in understanding and caring and I will always be grateful to Crystal for her humanity and compassion to our family.
